Application Questions

What support are you applying for and how did you hear about us?

In the first section you’ll be asked to let us know the types of support that you are interested in applying for and how you found out about this support offer.

About your organisation or business

You’ll be asked to tell us about your organisation or business including:

  • Organisation name, website, contact details (primary and secondary)
  • The type of heritage you work in and your connection to the heritage sector
  • Whether you consider your organisation or business mission within the heritage sector to be Black or minority ethnic-led, Disability-led, LGBT+-led, Female-led and/or Young people-led
  • Legal status of your organisation or business and the applicable registration number (charity, business, unique tax reference)
  • Some information about your business: number of employees and number of years you have been operating, whether or not you own a heritage asset, your income and reserves

Following these questions, you will be asked to identify whether you are completing the questions as the representative of an organisation, as an individual (sole trader or freelancer) or as a person who is unemployed*.

If you are a representative of an organisation (including voluntary organisations) you will be asked

  • To what extent has COVID-19 disrupted your ability to deliver your organisational core purpose and any specific impacts or concerns
  • If your organisation has benefitted from any of the funding or grant schemes that have been launched to respond to the crisis:

Business Planning 

  • Whether your organisation has a business plan and whether this need updating in relation to the impacts of COVID-19
  •  How confident do you feel writing or amending your business plan
  • Whether you are currently considering, planning or implementing any changes in your organisation and (if known) what support do you need with this

Rebuilding Leadership

  • Whether there are any specific challenges related to leadership that you are currently experiencing as a result of the COVID-19 crisis and why you feel your organisation would benefit from Rebuilding Leadership training

Marketing and Communications

  • About the capacity within your current team for communications and marketing
  • Whether your organisation has a communications strategy and if it is up to date
  • How confident you feel that you are communicating with your target audience and using different types of media
  • If you have experienced any specific communications and media challenges

Fundraising

  • How confident you feel carrying out fundraising and how you would make use of the support on offer

Wellbeing

  • Whether you have any policies and/or practices in place to address wellbeing, whether this needs updating in relation to the impacts of COVID-19 and whether you have experienced any specific challenges related to wellbeing as a result of COVID-19

If you are an individual (sole trader/freelancer or limited business) you will be asked

  • To what extent you have been able to work since COVID-19 measures were instigated in March 2020
  • Whether your work provides your only source of income
  • Whether you have been able to get support from the government’s self-employment income support scheme
  • Whether your situation changed as COVID-restrictions eased
  • The specific impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on your work

Business Planning 

  • Whether you ever undertaken business planning activity either for your own business or in previous employment
  • How confident you feel about undertaking business planning activity
  • How you feel business planning support could help you to move forward

Rebuilding Leadership

  • Why you feel you would benefit from Rebuilding Leadership training

Marketing and Communications

  • How confident do you feel about undertaking marketing activity
  • How you currently connect with other professionals and organisations to find work
  • Which directories or platforms you use
  • How you feel communications support could help you to move forward

Fundraising

  • How confident you feel carrying out fundraising and how you would make use of the support on offer

Wellbeing

  • Whether you have any policies and/or practices in place to address wellbeing, whether this needs updating in relation to the impacts of COVID-19 and whether you have experienced any specific challenges related to wellbeing as a result of COVID-19

A few final questions…

  • Preferences for accessing the support (telephone or video call)
  • Accessibility requirements (notification of accessibility needs will not affect the assessment of your application but advance knowledge of any accessibility needs may help us to be proactive and ensure that your support can be delivered without delay)
  • Declaration that the information you have provided in the application is true and correct
  • Confirmation that you understand that the information you have provided will be shared with the National Lottery Heritage Fund and with the partners that the Heritage Alliance is working with for the purpose of supporting you and/or your organisation through Rebuilding Heritage

*Our programme is funded through the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Business Support Programme and the by-application support is only available to organisations and individuals who are working as freelancers/soletraders or operating a limited business.  We are aware that the pandemic has affected everybody, including those who are unemployed either prior to or because of the pandemic, and we are keen to help as much as we can. The open-to-all programme is available to everyone and includes webinars, resources and toolkits.
